The right recipe can
dazzle eyes as well as
taste buds, says best-
selling author and Food
Network star Sandra
Lee. Case in point: these
party-friendly, easy-to-
make beef skewers.
“They’re almost like
ornaments on a stick,”
Sandra says. “You could
dress them up more by
wrapping each with a
strip of chive, or adding
a cherry tomato to the
top of each skewer.”
Equally appealing
is the flavor. Strips of
sirloin are marinated in
pineapple and orange
juices, soy sauce,
and mustard. After
grilling (just 2
minutes), serve with
Sandra’s orange-chili
dipping sauce.
MAKE IT DINNER
The kabobs can also
become the foundation
of a festive meal,
Sandra says. “I might
serve them on a bed of
golden couscous and
golden raisins. With
wild rice, they would
look gorgeous.”
“These easy appetizers are
comfort food that fills the room
with warmth and goodwill.”

SET THE SCENE
“Making it special
doesn’t mean making
it expensive,” Sandra
says. “In my dining
room, I’m setting
up a miniature tree
decorated with copper
cookie cutters I’ve
collected over the last
20 years. Use what you
have. Handmade and
heartfelt—that’s what
it’s all about this year.”
PARTY DRINK
Sandra recommends
this seasonal cocktail:
GINGERBREAD
MARTINIS
In a cocktail shaker
filled with ice, shake
together:
1 Vz oz. vanilla-
flavored vodka
1 1
/s oz. hazelnut
liqueur, such as
Frangelico
1
Tbsp. bu tterscotch
schnapps
Strain into an 8-ounce
glass filled with ice; add
4 ounces ginger beer
and a splash of dark
rum. Makes 1 drink.
